About Finlay
I’m Finlay, a Natural Sciences student at the University of Leeds, where I study Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. I achieved A*s in A-Level Maths and Chemistry and an A in Physics, as well as Grade 9s at GCSE.
I have experience tutoring students in Maths and Science and really enjoy helping people understand topics they may initially find difficult. I’m good at breaking complicated ideas down into clear, manageable steps and adapting my explanations depending on how each student learns best.
Having completed my GCSEs and A-levels recently, I have a strong understanding of the current courses, exam styles and the pressures students face. I can therefore share not only subject knowledge, but also the revision methods, exam techniques and approaches to difficult questions that helped me achieve my own grades.

I offer personalised GCSE and A-Level Maths tutoring, with lessons tailored to each student’s ability, weaknesses and target grade.
I achieved a Grade 9 in GCSE Maths and an A* in A-Level Maths, and I now study Mathematics as part of my Natural Sciences degree at the University of Leeds.
My lessons focus on developing a genuine understanding of the maths rather than simply memorising methods. I break difficult topics down into clear steps, then use worked examples and exam-style questions to build confidence and independence.
For GCSE students, I can support both Higher and Foundation Maths, whether the aim is to secure a pass, move up several grades or target an 8 or 9.
For A-Level students, I can help with Pure Maths, Statistics and Mechanics, including more difficult problem-solving questions and exam technique.
I also focus heavily on identifying where marks are being lost, avoiding common mistakes and understanding exactly what exam questions are asking for.

Perfect! Excellent start where Finlay identified specific weaknesses for focussed sessions, and commenced teaching and learning in one of those. Ended with a concrete plan fit improvement between now and the summer.
