Hi! I scored 92 in Section 2 of the GAMSAT in March 2026, which appears to be one of the highest scores publicly recorded.
I'm also a PhD candidate in Philosophy & Psychology at Stanford. I've tutored and lectured undergraduates for 6 years, here and at the University of Sydney, across a range of courses. I love teaching philosophy to STEM students, and science to philosophy students.
Alongside that, I've had solo academic work published in philosophy journals and public-facing magazines. A recent piece was a finalist for the Aeon Philosophy Prize.
I spend my working life teaching people to think through complex problems and communicate their ideas clearly and persuasively. Whatever your starting point, I'd love to help you do well in Section 2!

I offer a free consultation where I'll get to know you—your goals, strengths, areas of improvement, and learning style. There are a vast number of ways to succeed in Section 2, so I can teach you my own approach, or help you discover or refine yours.
Regardless of your approach, the focus is on expressing your own ideas with clarity, rigor, and charisma. The best responses are insightful and a pleasure to read. While these are difficult things to do well, they are absolutely teachable!
Templates, essay-writing "hacks", and other shortcuts tend to make your writing superficial, generic, and fragile (i.e., you'll struggle to adapt to challenging prompts, and to distinguish yourself on familiar ones).
It is far better to build the underlying skills of interpreting a prompt, generating an idea, exploring it with depth and originality, and communicating your thinking in clear and compelling prose—so you can deftly handle whatever comes up on the day.
You do not need to be a trained or naturally talented writer to do this well. In fact, trying to sound like one by imitating a formal, academic, or 'writerly' voice is a common way students lose marks. Simple, direct writing is almost always preferable. Together we'll develop your writing voice.
"Hacks" aside, it is important to be strategic and efficient in your preparation and on exam day. I can help you with both. I also cover essay structure, grammar and style, drawing on personal experience, common traps students fall into, and how to use secondary resources (including when to use AI chatbots, and when not to).
Finally, I offer advanced essay marking, which includes inline comments and targeted redrafting tasks. You're welcome to try this before committing to a lesson. And after each lesson, I'll send written feedback by email, so you always have a clear record of what we covered and what to work on next.
