About Deirdre
I am a fully qualified primary school teacher entering my seventh year of teaching. I have experience teaching all class levels from Junior Infants to Sixth Class, and I have also taught internationally in Australia, which has broadened my understanding of different curricula and teaching approaches.
I am passionate about creating a positive, supportive learning environment where children feel confident, motivated, and capable of achieving their best. Throughout my career, I have worked with a wide range of learners and abilities, including children who require additional support as well as those who benefit from extension and challenge.
My teaching style is calm, structured, and child-centered. I place strong emphasis on building confidence, developing core skills, and making learning clear and accessible. I use a variety of teaching strategies to suit individual learning needs and ensure steady, meaningful progress.
I take pride in being professional, organized, and approachable. My aim is to support each child in reaching their full potential while fostering a genuine enjoyment of learning and long-term academic confidence.

My tutoring approach is supportive, structured, and tailored to each child’s individual needs. As a fully qualified primary school teacher, I aim to build confidence as well as improve academic skills in a positive and encouraging learning environment. I use a range of teaching methods including visual supports, hands-on activities, games-based learning, and targeted practice to support literacy and numeracy development.
Lessons are typically 60 minutes long and are adapted to suit the child’s age, attention span, and learning needs. Each session is focused on reinforcing key concepts, addressing gaps in understanding, and developing effective study skills.
I have experience teaching all primary class levels from Junior Infants to Sixth Class and have provided tutoring mainly for children in 3rd to 6th Class. This experience has given me a strong understanding of the curriculum and the different ways children learn.
My lessons are suitable for primary school children of all ages and abilities, whether they need extra support, confidence building, or additional challenge in their learning.
