About Nikki
Since being a child, I have had a life-long love of reading and literature. I was certainly a book-worm as a child and had devoured all the classic Enid Blyton and Roald Dahl books before I turned ten! At school, I adored my English lessons and the creativity and escapism of both reading and writing stories. My secondary school English teacher was a huge inspiration to me; when she taught me my GCSE texts, I was absolutely captivated by her teaching of 'Macbeth' and 'A View From The Bridge.' I looked forward to her lessons every week and she pushed me to work my hardest and achieve great results. I decided I wanted to become an English teacher and tutor so that I could try to be the type of teacher that I had the privilege of learning from to future generations of students - a friendly, approachable, interesting and knowledgeable teacher. A teacher that helps students to enjoy and appreciate the written word and to spark a love of reading and writing.

An accomplished, well-qualified and dynamic classroom practitioner with excellent organisational expertise and interpersonal skills. I am passionate about developing the life-opportunities and shaping the futures of the young people I work with. Adaptive teaching is important to all students – no two students are identical and therefore all their needs are different. Whether a student requires a writing scaffold, instructions repeating, more visual models or me to regularly ‘check in’ with them to ensure they are on-task, I strive to ensure that the needs of all my learners are met to help them to access the curriculum and make the most progress they are capable of. I particularly enjoy live-modelling answers and talking students through my thought-process as I write and edit my response. I believe this helps to develop their ability to think critically about how to structure their own responses. With over twenty years in teaching, I have vast experience of key stages 3 - 5 English Language and Literature. I am regarded as a hard-working and approachable professional. In addition, I am an experienced GCSE examiner for both AQA and Eduqas examination boards.
