  • 1) When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

    1. I have always had an interest in computers since I first played doom on a floppy drive. However, education became an interest to me when studying my Bachelors Degree in Education Studies. Using my love for computing and my stance on helping disadvantaged pupils attain, I compelted my PGCE and now teach and tutor computer science.
  • 2) Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

    2. As teaching wasn't my first career, I have an approach that has taken a slice from all parts of life. I do however think in a very algorithmic way and always plan and schedule my daily routines by decomposing everything into smaller problems. This is why I love teaching programming in computer science. I wouldn't necessarily say that I dislike any particular topic, however if I could, I would always teach only programming.
  • 3) Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

    3. I have a few role models in my life that inspired my across my journey of computing and education. An uncle of mine who has two masters and is currently a top ai engineer in a bank firm was my inspiration to computing. My role model to become a teacher would be my primary school year 6 teacher Mr Hart. Unfortunately, though he is no longer with us, he inspired creativity and a love for education. I still remember creating a wooden merry go round with an electrical motor with his help.
  • 4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

    4. All tutors should have good subject knowledge. Confidence in teaching comes from a good subject knowledge, however, they also need an understanding of different pedagogical methods in teaching. Whether it is online or face to face teaching, the tutor needs to build not just the ability to recall and pass but inspire their own love of the subject to the students.
  • 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

    5. Algorithmic thinking takes over my brain even when im playing games. While battling a boss in the game I pause the game, and end up writing a calculating an optimal attakc sequence like I was writing a real-time strategy algorithm.
  • 6) What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

    6. Students doing computer science may find it more difficult if they are finding maths difficult. It is important to align these two stem subjects together. Programming i particular becomes harder to recall if you find maths difficult.
  • 7) Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

    7. I have a great passion for teaching and not just my subject. My main aims lie in supporting and progressing disadvantaged pupils into attaining better grades and inspiring them to achieve their dreams.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions :-P) ?

    8. I have over 20 years experience in dealing with people of all ages and backgrounds. I am a teacher, a father, a business director a social media content creator, a gamer and so much more. If you like something, I will research it to build a better relationship with you so we can learn better together. I love the memes, social media, gaming and education. It is all a key that I can build to help you open your future's door.
