About Jack
I am a friendly, professional, GTCS-registered Physics teacher with over three years’ classroom experience and six years’ experience tutoring learners one-to-one outside the classroom. I enjoy helping learners tackle challenging problems, supporting them as they build confidence with maths and physics and achieve their potential in exams.
I studied Electrical and Electronics Engineering at the University of Glasgow before discovering an enthusiasm for sharing my skills in maths and physis with others and transitioning into STEM education. My teaching career began as a Support for Learning Teaching Assistant at Leith Academy in Edinburgh, where I developed a strong understanding of how to support a diverse range of learners with differing needs and learning styles. In particular I gained significant experience working with ASD and ADHD learners and developed teaching strategies to support them.
I then completed my PGDE qualification in Physics with Science at the University of Strathclyde before gaining my full teaching registration with the GTCS. Throughout the last two years I have worked as a Physics teacher in Glasgow where I have been leading the learning of up to 120 young people each week. Helping them develop their knowledge and understanding of physics and prepare for their exams.

As a tutor, I have supported a wide range of learners to build confidence, strengthen their understanding of key physics and maths concepts, and improve their exam performance. I aim to make all learning clear, engaging, and accessible by breaking down complex ideas and adapting my approach to suit each learner. I place a strong emphasis on building confidence and encouraging the independent problem-solving skills that will be crucial to both exam success and future learning. I have an in-depth knowledge of the Scottish maths and physics curriculums as well as crucial insights into the best ways to gain marks and common misconceptions and mistakes.
