About Olivia
A little bit of background information about me:
- I study a double degree in Arts and Laws.
- I am currently undertaking third year Chinese through the university of Tasmania. (I gained a High distinction in both first and second year Chinese!)
- I studied Chinese as a pre-tertiary subject in year 12, accomplishing an exceptional achievement.
- In summer 2020, I studied Advanced Chinese through the Eastern China Normal University.
- In 2018, I visited areas of Eastern China. Through experience, I have gained an excellent understanding of Chinese customs and traditions, culture, and history!
- I have a valid Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) card!
Given my extensive background in Mandarin Chinese, I would LOVE to assist students with:
- Enhancing their spoken and written Chinese, and Improving listening and responding skills.
- Improving their Mandarin reading and comprehension skills.
- Supporting students to gain a detailed understanding of Chinese culture; customs and traditions.
- Preparation for written exams, oral exams/ speeches, and listening exams!

My name is Olivia, I am 19 years old and I am a Mandarin tutor based in Hobart Tasmania! My aim is to provide an enthusiastic and comfortable learning environment in which students can thrive. With my expertise, students can dramatically enhance their written, spoken, and aural Mandarin, and consequently boost their confidence! I am eager to share my extensive knowledge of the Chinese with students of any age, who are beginner or intermediate!
My teaching philosophy is oriented towards the needs of my students; I aim to be a mentor for the learner, showing my knowledge through activities and visual tools, and assisting students in self-learning!
