About Dr Claire
I understand how challenging academic writing can be. You may be struggling with procrastination and feeling stuck, or perhaps you’re not getting the grades you want, but aren’t sure how to improve. I enjoy helping students work through these challenges, build confidence in their writing, and start to enjoy the process.
My qualifications and experience:
I am an experienced academic researcher and teacher. I have taught at the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University, and most recently I was a Lecturer at the University of Nottingham (2021–2024).
I hold a Law degree and an MSc in Criminology from the University of Oxford, and a PhD in Criminology from the University of Sheffield. I am also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (Advance HE).
During my academic career I have marked many hundreds of undergraduate essays and dissertations across criminology, sociology, social policy, and research methods, and I have successfully supervised more than 20 undergraduate dissertations. This experience means I understand what markers look for—and how to help you meet those expectations.
