About Umaimah
As a dedicated and supportive tutor, I take pride in creating a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable, encouraged and motivated. I prepare thoroughly for every lesson, ensuring that each session is organised, clear and focused on the student’s goals. My strong academic background in maths and science allows me to explain concepts in a simple, approachable way, and I always adapt my teaching style to suit different learning needs. I am reliable, punctual and committed to helping every student improve both their understanding and their confidence. I have had personal experience of being in my students' situation where they are unable to understand key exam content. Therefore, I'm able to create an easier approach for my students from the way I've tackled it. Students can count on a friendly, professional tutor who genuinely cares about their progress and success.

My approach to tutoring is friendly, patient and completely tailored to each student. I begin by finding out what the student already understands and where they need the most support. From there, I break topics down into simple steps, use clear examples, and check understanding through practice questions. I focus on building confidence as well as skills, and I encourage students to think through problems rather than just memorise solutions. A typical lesson lasts one hour, which gives enough time to review previous work, learn new material and practise together. I also adjust the pace depending on how comfortable the student feels that day. Although I’m not yet a certified tutor, I am a high-achieving student with strong maths skills and a solid understanding of the topics I teach. I explain concepts in a way that feels approachable, especially for students who struggle or feel anxious about maths. My lessons are best suited for GCSE students who need help with homework, exam preparation or strengthening their understanding of key maths and science concepts. I’m especially good with learners who benefit from a calm, supportive environment where they can ask questions freely.
