About Hemi
Salut ! I’m a native French speaker who’s traded the formal blackboard for a more "café-style" approach to learning. Think of me as your linguistic co-pilot rather than a rigid lecturer. I’m obsessed with the way language actually breathes—the slang, the hand gestures, and the weird idioms that make a French person sound like a French person.
Why I do this?
I’ve seen too many people get stuck in "textbook purgatory," where they can conjugate a verb perfectly but freeze when a baker asks them a simple question in Paris. My goal is to break that wall. I want you to feel the rhythm of the language so you can stop translating in your head and start just speaking.
My Vibe:
- Zero Judgment Zone: I’ve made plenty of mistakes learning English; I expect you to make them in French! It’s the only way to grow.
- Cultural Junkie: I’ll probably send you a French indie song or a Netflix trailer between lessons because immersion shouldn't feel like homework.
- Patience of a Saint: We’ll go over that "U" sound or the subjunctive mood fifty times if we have to, we’ll get there, I promise.
Outside the "Classroom":
When I’m not talking about the difference between c’est and il est, you’ll probably find me hunting for the perfect croissant (a never-ending quest), listening to podcasts, or planning my next trip. I bring that same curiosity and energy into our sessions.
I’m here to help you stop "studying" French and start living it.
Ready to ditch the boring drills and actually start chatting? Tell me, what’s the one thing you find most frustrating about French so far?

As a native French tutor, I offer an immersive and culturally rich learning experience designed to bridge the gap between classroom theory and real-world fluency. My methodology leverages the natural advantages of native-speaker instruction, authenticity, cultural depth, and nuanced linguistic expertise, to help you achieve a high level of proficiency.
Typical Lesson Plan (60-minute session)
- Warm-up/Bell-ringer (5–10 mins): A quick review of the previous concept or a "turn and talk" activity to get you speaking immediately.
- Interactive Presentation (15 mins): Introduction of new vocabulary or concepts through multimedia like film clips, music, or thematic flashcards.
- Collaborative Guided Practice (20 mins): We engage in oral work and communicative exchanges, providing immediate feedback on pronunciation and usage.
- Action-Oriented Task (15 mins): You apply the new skills to a practical scenario (e.g., a role-play or problem-solving task).
- Reflective Feedback & Prep (5 mins): We summarize key takeaways and set small, achievable goals for independent practice before the next session.
What Sets Me Apart
- Linguistic Authenticity: I provide insights into regional accents, slang, and the "messy" reality of fast-paced native speech that automated apps or non-native courses often miss.
- Cultural GPS: Beyond words, I teach the social nuances, such as the correct use of tu vs. vous and cultural anecdotes that make the language come alive.
- Personalized Pace: I offer a 1-on-1 focus where you are the priority, allowing us to spend more time on difficult concepts like the subjunctive mood or specific professional goals.
Who the Lessons Are For
- Academic Levels: Middle school through University-level students needing support with the Ontario curriculum, A-Levels, IB, or college coursework.
- Proficiency Standards: Aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) (A1-C2) and the Quebec Francisation Scale (1-12).
- Specific Needs:Exam Prep: Targeted coaching for DELF/DALF or TEF Canada certification.
- Career & Relocation: Professionals needing business French for international trade or diplomacy.
- Bilingual Children: Helping children maintain fluency in non-native homes through playful, engaging methods.
