About Fan
I’m a native French speaker from Belgium, who moved to Scotland 8 years ago. I have experience of teaching (sciences and languages) in different contexts: tutoring, summer camps, language activities in primary schools, etc.
I have witnessed several friends of mine trying to learn a foreign language and they all struggled with improving their listening/speaking skills and confidence, as traditional language classes don’t have the time for real conversations. This is the reason I offer to help French learners through friendly and relaxed conversations in French.
I am easy to talk to and curious about meeting new people! I already look forward to chat with you :)

Bonjour!
Here, we improve in French by SPEAKING it :) I believe it is the most effective and useful way to progress in a foreign language. It is also the hardest skill to practise on your own, unlike reading/writing which you can improve without having to pay for a tutor.
What can you expect from a session? A relaxed discussion in French! We will talk about topics related to you and specific to situations in which you want to use French. Of course, with additional support: I'll introduce useful vocabulary at the start of each session and clarify any confusion in English. I also write down and explain corrections on my shared screen as we go, and the notes will be sent to you afterwards. Most importantly, the sessions are tailored to your goals, the situations in which you want to be using French, and with the type of support that is most effective for you.
Who is this for? The format is ideal for people who don’t see their speaking/listening skills improving through a traditional language course, or people who have learnt the language a while ago. In other words, if you have some basics in French (even very rudimentary) but feel like you can’t progress or use it in real-life situations, this format is perfect for you!

Fan is an amazing teacher. I learned French in school but then forgot most of it after I left.
I found her on superprof and we immediately got along. I used to not really like French, but now I look forward to our lessons!
Overall, would highly recommend.I had Fan as a tutor to help me through my French course at university and I wouldn't have managed to pass without her! She is very friendly and understands how to push you without going too far at any one time. The lessons being tailored to me specifically is a nice touch, I love now being able to speak about my work to a wider audience.
