About Akari
I am a former Team USA ladies singles figure skater with 20+ years of experience, now a certified US Figure Skating coach.
I represented Team USA’s International Selection Pool (ISP) for five consecutive years and competed extensively at both ISU international and US national levels, including ISU Senior Challenger B events and the ISU Junior Grand Prix series circuit.
I am a five-time ISU international competitor with multiple podium finishes, including two ISU international silver medals, and a five-time U.S. National Championships competitor, earning two national medals.
At SWP Regionals and PC Sectionals, I have consistently medaled and won titles across Juvenile-Senior levels. I am also a two-time U.S. National Showcase Parade of Junior Champion, with my name permanently engraved in the U.S. Figure Skating Hall of Fame. Beyond competitions, I serve on U.S. Figure Skating committees, including the Athlete Advisory Committee, contributing to athlete representation, development, and policy initiatives.

My Teaching Approach
I provide private figure skating lessons both in-person in Santa Clarita, California, and online, offering flexible instruction for all ages and levels, from young beginners (3+) to adults, including recreational skaters, competitive athletes, and students seeking structured physical education enrichment.
I specialize in singles skating, combining on-ice and off-ice training for all levels to track progress, correct technique, and refine performance.
My lessons are goal-driven and individualized, focusing on strong fundamentals, balance, coordination, flexibility, and safe skill progression, while building confidence, discipline, and performance quality.
Sessions may include warm-ups, technique drills, jumps, spins, footwork, choreography, and off-ice conditioning, all tailored to the student’s development and goals. If you have specific requests on what skills to work on, let me know!
What sets me apart is my 20+ years of elite-level competitive experience, 7+ years of coaching expertise, and a deep commitment to mentorship and love for this sport.
I guide skaters to reach their full potential, develop lifelong skills, and cultivate a love for figure skating that goes beyond the rink.
