About Lauren
I have worked with students for over 9 years in public school settings. I earned my Master of Arts in Education in 2017 while substitute teaching. This gave me a wide range of experience working in many different kinds of schools and classrooms. After earning my teaching credential, I worked as a Resource Specialist in Whittier, CA for 2 years. I then worked at High Tech Middle North County (HTMNC) for 3.5 years in a similar position. This experience has given me extensive understanding of how to set goals with students and achieve those goals in reading, writing, and math. Additionally, I am trained in the Wilson Reading Program, which is a scientifically backed program designed to support students with dyslexia to acquire reading skills. I had the pleasure of working 1:1 with students at HTMNC to support them in reading using the Wilson Reading Program.

What sets me apart is my extensive training in how to support students with exceptionalities. I am extremely patient and know how to connect with students on a personal level to help them achieve their best. A typical lesson would begin with something for the student to immediately connect to (such as a short video or idea that relates to the concept to be taught). Then, I would assess prior knowledge through inquiry. Next, I would provide direct instruction and guide the student to success. Finally, there would be opportunity for the student to apply the lesson material independently. This not only gives them the practice they need to feel confident in the subject matter, but it also shows me what the student is understanding versus what they still need support with.

Lauren is an amazing educator. She takes care, kindness, and patience with all of her students. She has a phenomenal ability to translate complex learnings into content digestible by students off all ages and educational ranges. If you can get time with her take it you won't regret the investment.
Ms. Nico is a compassionate, empathic and hard worker. She has integrity and while working as my sons IEP specialist at High Tech her heart and sole into teachering him. She is kind and firm when needed. She was someone who I always knew I could go to and she would get messages to my sons teachers. On several occasionals my son would do their session at her house, which shows my trust in her as his teacher.
