About Steve
My career has always been in the creative fields of illustration for magazines, comics, ads, posters, apparel and movie storyboards.
Simultaneously, I also had a long career as an award-winning filmmaker (features, shorts, commercials, music videos).
Now that I'm retired I like to stay busy by sharing my knowledge and helping emerging artists find their place in the creative community.

My speciality is narrative art. I teach dramatic page composition, action and humor.
First lessons lean into storytelling: how to create unique characters and an understandable story... then, learning basic techniques for anatomy, perspective and mood.
Next we lay out that story page by page so that it makes dramatic (or humorous) sense.
I prefer to teach middle & high school kids, but adults are welcome!
I'm well equipped because of my background in comics and movies (storyboards) as well as teaching filmmaking.
