About Qian
I came to Canada in 2018 to pursue my Ph.D in Secondary Education at the University of Alberta. I graduated in 2024. I have a strong academic foundation in curriculum theories and pedagogical approaches. Before I came to Edmonton, I had already held a Ph.D in English Language and Literature from Shanghai International Studies University in China, and I have been teaching English language and literature courses at a university in Shanghai for over a decade. I have composed English textbooks for university students in China. One of the English textbooks is concerned with structures and interpretations of English short stories. I am also one of the editors of an American Dictionary published in China.

Hello, everyone! My name is Qian. I hold two Ph.Ds: one is in English Language and Literature and the other is in Secondary Education. I have been teaching British and American literature, Academic Writing, English Grammar, and English as a second language at a university in China for over a decade. My teaching approaches in English language and literature tutoring are a combination of close reading and strong academic and non-academic writing skills, while providing individualized instruction. My curriculum design integrates theory and application. Theory includes what you are expected to learn under a specific lesson module, focusing on grammar, diction, punctuation, literary devices, developing thesis statements, writing sentences and paragraphs in a coherent way, and formatting. Application refers to the concrete practices that you apply what you have learned from the modules to your reading and writing. My lessons are for junior and senior high school students, adult students, and college students, with diverse disciplines ranging from science to humanities studies. I will assist you in your ELA assignments, report writing, term paper writing, and thesis writing.
