About Louis
My name is Louis, and I am a third-year International Relations and Chinese student at the University of St Andrews, currently studying advanced Mandarin.
I am organised, patient, and highly motivated, with a strong academic record and a clear, supportive teaching style.
Having studied Mandarin in China and Scotland, I understand the challenges learners face at different stages and adapt my approach accordingly. I take my responsibilities seriously and aim to create a friendly, reliable, and professional learning environment where students feel confident progressing at their own pace.

I teach Mandarin Chinese using a flexible approach tailored to each student’s goals. Lessons typically last 60 minutes and combine speaking, listening, reading, and grammar, with a strong focus on practical communication and confidence.
As an International Relations and Chinese student in St Andrews, I understand both exam requirements and real-world language use. I use clear explanations, repetition, and active practice rather than rote memorisation. My lessons are suitable for beginners, GCSE/A-level students, and university learners, as well as adults looking to improve conversational or professional Mandarin.

He is willing to give his utmost, resulting in a very strong Mandarin level. Louis is an excellent tutor and his lessons are well-suited for beginner and intermediate learners of Mandarin.
