About Shlok
My journey through schooling had been quite a rollercoaster. While it wasn't always smooth sailing, having changed secondary schools midway through, I certainly believe that I flourished academically right the way through, starting from SATs in Year 6 to my now completed A-Levels, and I would love nothing more than to share the insight that I have gained on how to succeed and attain great grades with other students. Both my parents have been teachers for most of their careers, and I have seen first hand the job satisfaction that they get on results day, or when a student approaches them in public to thank them for all their hard work. Every student is deserving of a teacher who cares about them, and who is willing to put in the work to get them to where they need to be, regardless of how long it takes. Having been schooled in the UK myself, I know about the shortcomings of the education system, and have had to grapple with them myself. That being said, it becomes the job of tutors like myself to plug those gaps and to make sure that young people get access to the high quality teaching that they deserve. My examination record speaks for itself, achieving top grades in all subjects at GCSE level and predicted to do the same in my A-Levels later this summer - which I believe is my greatest asset. Whilst a great student doesn't always result in a great teacher, it is certainly a necessary prerequisite to be met, a category in which I would say I have flourished my entire life. I also have a place on the most competitive Economics course in the UK, at one of the most prestigious universities - the University of Oxford. I would argue that this has been one of my greatest achievements to date, something which required rigour and discipline - both of which I would bring to my lessons too.

I would say that my lessons are tailored around cultivating a culture of enjoyment when it comes to learning. Having been through the entire school system here myself, I know how important it is for a student to relish what they do, and realise that school is much more than just an obligation at this age - it is a privilege. Whilst I certainly would leave no stone unturned when it comes to preparing a student for any exams, it is really important to me that a connection is built between myself and the student in order to enable them to achieve the best learning outcomes and take the most away from my lessons. My ideal lesson length lies between 1 to 2 hours, longer than that can become tedious for a student but too short and it doesn't allow me to deliver a thorough lesson covering content in a great level of detail. As for age groups, I am qualified to tutor any student up to A-Level. Having succeeded in my A-Levels, I feel confident that I would be able to elevate other students to the level that I was working at, achieving 3 A*s and an A in Maths, Further Maths, Economics and Physics. I currently study Economics & Management at the University of Oxford, allowing me to provide sessions on preparing students for the TSA entrance exam as well. When it comes to student ability - I do not discriminate. No one student is more, or less, deserving of help than another, and it is my goal to help as many students as I can to gain as much as they can from their years in school, setting them up with the best qualifications possible to succeed in their lives.
