About Jano
I'm Jano, an Economics graduate from Warwick, and I now work full-time in the Civil Service on a graduate scheme focused on regulation. So economics isn't just something I studied. It's something I use and think about every day, which shapes the way I explain it to students.
I've kept tutoring alongside my job simply because I enjoy it. The part I like most is watching something that felt intimidating suddenly make sense: when Maths stops feeling like guesswork, or an Economics answer finally clicks into place. Having sat these exams myself fairly recently, I know how stressful they can feel, and I try to make lessons feel far calmer than the exam room.
I'm patient, approachable and reliable, and what I care about most is that students properly understand the work, rather than just scraping through it.

Most students come to me for one of two reasons: a topic that just isn't clicking, or a grade that's stuck a level below where they want it. My first job is to find exactly where the marks are being lost - often it's not the content itself, but how it's being written or worked through under exam pressure.
From there, lessons are built around past papers and mark schemes, so students get comfortable answering the way examiners actually reward. My main focus is Economics and Maths: in Economics that usually means nailing the application and evaluation rather than just memorising definitions; in Maths it's building a reliable method for the questions that look unfamiliar at first, so nothing throws you on the day.
Sessions run for about an hour, online, and I go at each student's pace - no two lessons look quite the same. I teach GCSE through to A-Level, mainly secondary and sixth-form students. I've been tutoring since 2021, and most of my students finish on an A or A*.
