About Laurie
I am a Goldsmith's English Literature Graduate with a first class degree. I'm offering academic lessons in English and History, including KS3, GCSE and Undergraduate level. I also offer creative writing and poetry lessons.
I was selected to be a Jerwood/Arvon playwriting mentee 2017 and as a professional poet I have been commissioned by the likes of the Barbican and Sky Arts. I frequently lead poetry workshops, and was an assistant facilitator on the Barbican Junior Poets programme in primary schools in Walthamstow which involved group and individual sessions.

I am flexible dependant on the needs of my student(s). My aim is to find the spark that excites them, the moment something clicks that allows them to understand and dive into a subject. I find this is what allows for real growth, independent thinking and top mark ideas and analysis.
- Academic Workshops (English, History, Other Essays)
These would all be adjusted to fit the student and particular syllabus they are working with. This ranges from analytical skills to essay structure to revision technique.
- Poetry Writing
I have pre-existing workshops around analysing work, generating your own work, and understanding poetic forms. However I like to find poets that really inspire the student and create a lesson or workshop around that poet's collection or work. I work with audio, video and text.
