About Oliver
I’m 25 years old and grew up in France with English-speaking parents before moving to the UK at 16 to complete my A Levels, including Mathematics.
School didn’t always come easily to me. As someone with dyslexia, I struggled to understand and retain information in the way it was traditionally taught, so I had to develop my own learning techniques and learn how my brain worked best. I went from being around the pass/fail boundary to achieving the highest A Level Maths grades in my class. This experience has given me a strong understanding of what it feels like to be completely stuck on a topic or feel as though everyone else understands something that you don’t.
I went on to study Financial Economics at university, achieving a First-Class degree and performing strongly in complex mathematical modules. During university, I also tutored younger students, helping them progress from pass-level grades to some achieving first class degrees. I then spent 3–4 years working in foreign exchange broking before taking a career break.
I’m now looking to use my experience to help students who may be facing some of the same challenges I did. Whether you’re preparing for exams, struggling with a particular topic, or simply want to build your confidence in Maths, I want to provide the support I wish I had when I was in your position.
I’m always happy to have a chat before starting lessons, so please feel free to get in touch!

As someone with dyslexia, I understand first-hand the difficulties that can arise when entering your GCSE years, having experienced similar challenges myself. I aim to create a patient and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and working through areas they find difficult.
I tailor each lesson to the individual student, focusing on identifying gaps in their understanding and building their confidence. Lessons are typically one hour and split into two sections. The first half focuses on theory, identifying areas where knowledge may be lacking, and working through relevant material together. The second half focuses on practice questions and past-paper questions, helping students apply and reinforce what they have learnt.
I achieved a First-Class degree in Financial Economics at university, where I also tutored younger students in advanced mathematical modules. More recently, I have begun teaching GCSE Mathematics and particularly enjoy helping students develop their understanding and confidence.
My lessons are aimed at students in Years 10–11. For new students, I initially assess their current understanding and identify areas for improvement before tailoring future lessons around their individual needs and goals.

Olly was honestly such a big help to me during my Economics degree, especially with the more maths-heavy modules like statistics and quantitative methods. He has a really natural way of explaining things without overcomplicating them, and he was always patient when I was struggling with a topic.
There were definitely a few concepts that only properly clicked after he explained them to me! He’s friendly, knowledgeable and really easy to learn from, so I’d 100% recommend him to anyone looking for a maths tutor.Really happy with the lessons! Olly explains things clearly, is patient and encouraging, and makes maths feel much less daunting. I’ve gained confidence and would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a great maths tutor.
