About Ming
I recently completed a PhD in Accounting and Finance at the University of Strathclyde and have several years of experience teaching and tutoring Finance, Statistics and Quantitative Methods at university level.
Since 2020, I have taught undergraduate and postgraduate students, including four consecutive years teaching Quantitative Methods for Finance. I have supported students from a wide range of academic backgrounds and have received consistently positive student feedback, including a nomination for an Outstanding Tutor award.
Alongside teaching, my doctoral research has given me extensive practical experience in econometrics, empirical finance and quantitative research methods, including working with Stata and R.
I particularly enjoy making difficult financial and quantitative concepts easier to understand. Whether you are struggling with a specific topic, preparing for an exam, or developing your quantitative research skills, I aim to provide clear, patient and structured support tailored to your level.

I tailor each lesson to the student’s course, level and specific learning goals. My teaching focuses on helping students understand the intuition behind financial and economic concepts rather than simply memorising formulae.
I teach Finance, Economics, Financial Management, Econometrics and Quantitative Methods at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Topics can include corporate finance, investment, valuation, capital structure, risk and return, regression analysis, hypothesis testing, panel data and interpretation of empirical results.
For quantitative subjects, I explain concepts step by step and can also demonstrate how methods are applied using Stata or R. Lessons can be tailored to exam preparation, difficult weekly topics, quantitative skills or dissertation research methods.
My aim is to identify exactly where a student is struggling, explain the concept clearly, work through practical examples together, and help the student become confident enough to solve similar problems independently.
