About Anna
My name is Anna and I am a student at the University of Bristol reading Politics and International Relations. I have chosen to pursue this particular course as it encompasses different fields of study - economics, history, sociology, etc - and allows us to have a more in-depth understanding of the world we live in. At A-Level, I took politics, spanish and history and achieved A*, A*, A respectively. The skills I developed in these subjects - notably source-analysis and critical thinking - have been used beyond academia as they have changed the way in which I think about the world. Speaking french and english fluently, and spanish at an advanced level, I value languages and encourage people to pursue them as much as possible.
I believe that learning in an encouraging and motivating manner will restore the often lacking pleasure in studying. In order to ensure my students improve, I will encourage them to reflect back on mistakes and understand their errors so as to prevent them in the future. Without reflection, improvement cannot materialize.

At the start of each session I will ask the student what units they are currently looking at and whether there are any problems in relation to content and understanding. If so, then I will encourage the student to tell me what they know, and subsequently make them think deeper and ask questions until they get the full picture. Then, I will give the student questions/quiz to do in a certain time frame, and then we will discuss the answers and clarify any issues.
If the student is happy with the content from class I will encourage them to explore it in greater depth. I will start by quizzing the student on what they have done in class to see how much they know and judge what 'extra' content is relevant. I will cover a breadth of issues in moderate depth to ensure that the student has a balanced understanding of all subtopics. To finish, we will look at examples of exam questions.
