About Olivia

My colorful professional background includes work as an elementary and middle school literacy interventionist, providing special education instruction to struggling students; a high school English teacher, with a focus on reading/writing and improving literacy gaps; and a college Writing Consultant for various universities, working to improve and expand student writing from diverse backgrounds. I have a wide range of experiences, but the most important thing to know about me is I LOVE TO BRING THE JOY BACK TO READING AND WRITING with students. My style meets you where you're at, with what you have, building on your own interests and strengths! Let's get started and have some fun! About the lesson

Reading and writing should be FUN! My mission is to share the joy of literacy for struggling students. With 5+ years of experience as a University Writing Center consultant, 9 years of English education experience, and a background in special education and literacy instruction, I enjoy working with a wide range of students from basic developmental language skills to college/academic writing and rhetorical analysis.
My teaching philosophy is to meet students where they are and use their strengths and personal passions to develop interest and skills. If you are looking for someone to open your eyes to literary possibilities and enhance your reading and writing skills, my smiling face is happy to help :)

She has been providing consistent weekly tutoring, making weekly class plans, and helping her with homework and reading.
