About Evelyn
Hello! My name is Evelyn, and I am a dedicated student leader and community advocate with a passion for education, healthcare, and service. As a tutor, I specialize in Math and Chemistry for middle and high school students, as well as SAT Math preparation. I have consistently scored 700+ in SAT Math and help my students achieve similar success through personalized strategies and targeted practice. In addition to my academic strengths, I actively serve in leadership roles, including as a Shadow Officer in Junior Achievement, where I explore business, leadership, and community engagement. I am also the founder of the Health Education For Life Project, which focuses on promoting health awareness and conducting research. My experiences extend to volunteering at local food banks, church programs, and serving as an ambassador for environmental initiatives. Additionally, I balance academics and extracurriculars as a volleyball player at both school and club levels, which has taught me discipline, teamwork, and perseverance. For students preparing for the SAT, I emphasize proven strategies to consistently achieve 700+ scores in the Math section. This includes teaching time management skills, recognizing common question patterns, and practicing efficient problem-solving techniques.
A typical lesson starts with a brief review of previous topics to reinforce understanding. I then introduce or clarify the day's concept in simple, student-friendly terms. We proceed with guided practice problems, working through examples together, before transitioning to independent practice where students apply what they've learned. For SAT prep sessions, I also dedicate time to sharing test-taking strategies specific to the exam.
