About Amy
I have worked as a Writing Consultant at Jacksonville State University for three (3) years. As a writing consultant, I have worked one-on-one with college students from all levels and all fields of study. I conduct in-person and virtual consultations. I am always on time, I do not cancel appointments except in extreme circumstances, and I maintain an attitude of friendly professionalism. It is never my intent to harshly critique, but to give helpful feedback. Anything discussed in a consultation will not be discussed outside that consultation.

I am passionate about writing and love sharing my many years of expertise with students of all ages. I begin each lesson looking over the piece of writing and giving positive feedback first. This is followed by constructive criticism. I follow up critiques with ideas and techniques for how to correct issues and make your writing clearer and stronger. I want to give you the tools to become a confident writer. Writing is a critical communication skill, and a good grasp of written language will help you succeed!
If you're stuck on where to start, I can help you brainstorm ideas. If organization is an issue, I can help you formulate an outline. I am well-versed in multiple writing styles: MLA, APA, etc. I can help you find scholarly resource materials for research papers, integrate quotes, and properly cite all sources.
I am a highly requested Writing Consultant at Jacksonville State University and have led classes and workshops on many different aspects of the writing process!
