About Julie
I began teaching violin and piano at the age of 19 whilst undertaking my Bachelor of Music degree at KCL. More recently, I completed the new ESTA UK PGCert in string teaching via the University of Chichester. I've also worked hard on my cello technique over the last year and am now confident teaching up to grade 8. My current students range from preschoolers (general music and piano) to adults.

I teach everyone from absolute beginners to fairly advanced students tackling real repertoire. However, in the early stages I tend to prioritise general musical skills such as playing in time, copying rhythms and learning to read notation. For string students, establishing a solid basic technique means smooth progress over the coming years and I prefer to focus on this rather than rushing to take exams.
