About Mark
I have played the violin for more than 50 years (gulp!) having studied at music college in Cardiff. I taught as a peripatetic violin teacher in Northamptonshire for a number of years and then left for a career in the police. I have now returned to teaching in the Highlands of Scotland where I am currently a peripatetic teacher. I lead local orchestras such as the Inverness Symphony Orchestra and Highland Chamber Orchestra. I have also played electric violin in a folk-rock band!
I thrive on seeing people progress and the hard work paying off. Past pupils have gone up to Oxford and Cambridge Universities and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow to continue their studies, but I am equally happy to progress with someone at the very start of their violin journey.

I am a qualified music teacher - B.Ed (Hons) and LTCL (Diploma from Trinity College of Music, London) on the violin.
Whether you are already an advanced player or an absolute beginner I will carefully guide you through the wonderful world of playing the violin. In a fun and enjoyable way!
All tastes catered for (classical, traditional etc.) Wherever you want to go with your learning I will structure lessons to ensure there is a learning outcome leading to progression. Tuition is available from beginner, adults or children, up to Diploma level.
Music theory can be included within lessons (and is very important in the understanding of why we do certain things!) or can be taught entirely separately.
Lessons are typically for 1 hour, weekly, but this is open to negotiation!
