Mark is my first voice teacher and I could not have asked for a better one.  Within the first lesson, he caught onto unhealthy vocal habits of mine, coached me through singing without them, and also explained why I shouldn’t. He knows both the biological consequences of singing with unhealthy habits and the performance consequences I should avoid. He also took interest in my personal development as a performer and an artist. I'm more than grateful for my experience with Mark; I had an excellent semester with him and am looking forward to lessons with him in the future!

I am known as the "dancer" to my friends, but I really wanted to learn to sing as well.  I am so glad that my mom found Mark Thress to be my vocal teacher. When I began working with Mark about one year ago, I had no confidence in my vocal ability due to limited experience.  Working with Mark has helped me greatly expand my vocal range, and has given me the building blocks to develop my sound. Mark has helped me understand what changes need to take place in my breathing and posture to increase my projection. He has been an amazing mentor and friend, and because of our lessons I feel more confident in myself and capable of eventually landing a bigger singing role in my school musical.

Mark has been my teacher for several years, and he has helped me improve my singing immensely. His effective teaching methods have been extremely helpful, and his extensive knowledge of the voice shows in both his teaching and performing. From when I was a novice singer to now, he has always been a helpful presence in the learning process.

I’ve had the opportunity to work with Mark in many different capacities. He has served as my personal accompanist for voice lessons, vocal coach, and music director for Back to Black, an original Musical I created. In all of these experiences working with Mark, I have continually been impressed and grateful to have him as a colleague. He is extremely professional and well versed in music and vocal-technique. Not only does he work to help those around him improve as artists, but he also is able to build their confidence while doing so. He is a hard-working musician whom I trust and admire greatly. There have been countless times, especially whilst collaborating on my original projects, that he has given overtime to ensure all of the performers felt prepared and the music reflected the high-caliber product we wanted to present. What I have valued most about working with Mark is that due to his kind-spirit and professionalism throughout our collaborations, we have developed a great friendship. He is the real deal!
