About Anusha

I will go above and beyond to help you succeed in standardized testing and the college application process! With SAT testing, I will help you come up with a customized plan based on your current scores that will help build confidence and mastery of the skills covered. I scored a 1580 on my first SAT and an 800 on my first SAT Math II subject test. In the college application process, I will help you find and demonstrate your passion and voice in all aspects of your application. I will help you put together a college list, prioritize which activities to highlight on your application, form a description within the character limit, help brainstorm topics for essays and edit them, and more! I hope to see all students succeed in the college application process, since I loved writing my own and editing those of my peers. I am attending the University of Chicago in the fall.

I believe that the college application process, when done with proper guidance, can be a time of self-discovery during a period of transition from high school to college. Standardized testing is an essential part of any application - one that not only demonstrates academic readiness, but the tenacity and dedication required to score well in preparation. Essays are a way to narrow down what is truly important to a student and demonstrate that passion and creativity that you can't get from other parts of an application. I love helping students find their voice.

I have always loved teaching and I got started with tutoring in ninth grade. Since then, I have tutored in English at elementary schools and started robotics programs at a hospital, summer camp, and school. My passion for tutoring and helping others flourished during the college application season, where I was able to help others prepare for standardized testing and put together their application.

I have been tutoring elementary-age kids since ninth grade and genuinely enjoyed it, but I realized once I entered senior year that I loved helping others prepare for standardized testing and editing their college applications. Once I graduated high school, I decided that I wanted to help others in the same way.

SAT Tutoring/SAT II Tutoring:

My typical process for working with new students is to have them take a diagnostic test from CollegeBoard. I use the scores to determine their overall mastery level in each section, as well as the individual questions to determine which specific types of questions are causing them trouble. From there, I put together packets of sample questions based on subtopics and question types to help them build mastery of the topics they don't fully understand. If there are topics they simply haven't learned yet, I'll teach it to them myself. Throughout the process, I'll check in frequently through the practice tests and diagnostics to help them determine what they've mastered and what still needs work.

College Application Prep:

This one is very dependent on a student's individual needs. Some students already have a very clear idea of where they want to apply and what they want to major in, others have no idea. I'll start with the student where they are at to help them build a college list, develop their application, brainstorm essays, edit essays, and apply. I also offer essay-editing and brainstorming services for those who do not need help with other parts of the application.

I've worked with students who were struggling to break an 1170 on the SAT to students who were high achievers who just needed a little bit of essay-editing help. I am open to working with all different types of students.

SAT Tutoring/SAT II Tutoring:

Look for someone who is willing to personalize your test prep to you and work outside of paid hours to do so. For every hour that you get with me, I will spend at least another hour coming up with a personalized plan for your next lesson/homework assignment.

College Application Prep: I would say to look for someone who is willing to give you personalized attention in every aspect of your college application. Don't look for someone who is trying to force you to portray someone you're not on your applications, look for someone who wants to highlight your best qualities and help you create an application that you are passionate and excited about.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
SAT Tutoring/SAT II Tutoring:

Before talking to teachers about their needs, students should think about what they need help with and what methods of learning work best for them. Do they learn well from someone else demonstrating how to do a math problem or do they need to do it themselves and have someone help them on each step? These are important questions to know before contacting a tutor for help.

College Application Prep:

What are you passionate about? If you had to pick one extracurricular to do for all of college, what would it be? Have you changed throughout high school? Do you have any kinds of extenuating circumstances? The most important part of a college application is knowing who you are.
