About Sherry
I am a master teacher and recipient of a Blackboard award for excellence in education. I've taught elementary grades for 30+ years and am currently tutoring in NYC. For the last years of my teaching career I taught in an independent school in Manhattan, NY. My passion is teaching literacy, specifically reading. I adjust teaching materials to meet the needs of each individual student and aim to build the confidence and success of each child.
After college I was hired by a top public school system in Westchester, NY. to teach kindergarten.
48 years of teaching both in public and independent schools. I was at a Manhattan independent school for 39 years. I've tutored for many years. My major in college was developmental psychology, which well prepared me to teach young children.
