About Gini
Hi,
This is Gini from Allegro Music Studios located in E. Irondequoit a mile from the 590 exit for Seabreeze. I've been teaching piano in local studios for 30+ years and have an active pratice of children and adults. In addition to the traditional way of learning how to read music and play piano, I alo introduce my students to a chording method, which is a lot of fun and gets you playing all kinds of music quickly. Would love to work with you or your student(s).
I love making music and showing others how to develop their talent by learning new skills. I also teach Ukeulele, Melodica, and electronic keyboards. I believe strongly that learning how to play keyboards or other instruments is first and foremost a fun and enjoyable activity. So you'll hear laughter and giggles and lots of good music-making from my studio.
Come and see for yourself. The only pre-requisite is that you have an instrument to practice on. Hope to hear from you soon. Go to Allegro Music Studio on Facebook for more information.
After graduating college as a non-traditional aged-student, my Jazz organ teacher recommended me to a colleague of his who owned Oakdale Piano & Organ Store. It was perfect timing and I loved not only teaching on the best new instruments on the market, but learning about pianos from the inside out and selling them.
When I graduated from Nazareth College, where I studied classical organ, and at the same time took private jazz organ lessons with Fred Costello, I started and directed a music studio at Oakdale Piano and Organ Company. As lead teacher, I began with two students and grew the business to more than 200 students and five teachers.

Music is like breathing for me … an essential element of my life from the very beginning. Born into a family where all but my father played musical instruments and sang, I began formal piano lessons at age eight and have been playing ever since … Over the years I've continued to learn new instruments like the accordion, bass violin, the organ, guitar, and ukulele … what fun! I enjoy practicing and playing with other musicians, but most of all I love teaching music to students of all ages.
I have played as an accompanist for church choirs, directed a church bell choir, and played for weddings and private events. But I'm happiest when I am teaching others how to play the piano, organ, or electronic keyboard. I have helped scores of children and adults tap their innate musical talent and learn how to communicate with others through one of the most universal forms … music. By playing an instrument, they are able to create and express their own unique style.
I teach based on my philosophy that playing music is a lot of fun, and that learning an instrument gives the young, and the not so young, a lifetime of pleasure, enjoyment, and fulfillment. Whether students are children or adults, beginners or advanced, want to learn classical music or country, jazz, or rock ... we always have a great time learning together.
I have taught many children from the ages of 3-18. And have always had a mix of adults who wanted to start over again because they quit as a young student. My oldest student was a happy and successful 85 year old.
I appreciate information at the time of registration if there is a learning challenge or learning preferences that I should know about.
I'd say make sure you know their style of teaching. Are they formal and focused on a traditional classical approach? What is their expectation about praciticing? Do they offer opportunities to perform at recitals? Is that a requirement? Do they like to play with you as you learn? What is their description of a "good lesson"? Do I have to learn classical music? Can you teach me how to play (name your favorite type of music)?
At Allegro Music Studio you can relax and have a good time at our lessons. In order to do that, it is really important to find a regular time to practice so that you come to lessons ready to play your assigned material and to learn new music.
Also, I really encourage you to explore music that you like and try things out on the piano. Never be shy about asking me how to play something you've found online or have heard while playing a game.
I love watching my young students at recitals. I teach two sisters, ages 8 and 10 who are excellent piano students. Since the very beginning of their lessons (three years ago) I have taught them how to play duets with one another. When they performed a rather difficult duet at the last recital they wowed the audience. What fun to watch them having a good time at the piano and seeing the smiles on their parents' faces was the best payoff!
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
How do you feel about teaching a certain style of music that I like?
Do I have to play in recitals? I'm shy.
I'm very busy with sports and school work. How much do I have to practice?
I feel uncoordinated sometimes. Can I really learn how to play the piano?

Ms. Gini has taken our son from, "I wanna give up piano," to "Sure, I'll practice!" Her warm encouragement, her focus on what music our son wants to play and learn, and her non-judgmental, gentle insistence on personal excellence, drives our son to want to do his best. He enjoys being with her, a distinction from enjoying piano lessons. But how wonderful it is to enjoy both the piano and the teacher! Ms. Gini is the teacher I always wanted to have and we're so grateful our son is learning from her!
Gini has been a wonderful piano teacher for my daughter. Ella. She is always positive and encouraging towards her. In addition, she is flexible and extremely knowledgeable. I highly recommend Gini for anyone, at any age, that wants piano instruction.
My daughter Sophia has been taking lessons with Gini for 7 years since she was 5 years old. Gini is very talented, experienced, friendly and knows how to connect with Sophia. Gini always welcomes my daughter and makes her comfortable. She is a very experienced teacher with a lot of patience and deep love for students. She customised her teaching to Sophia's personality, situation, and ability without overwhelming or boring. Gini's teaching always well balanced. She teaches theory and ear training as well as techniques. The solid music foundation acquired by all these approaches tremendously helps my child to learn not only piano but also 5 other musical instruments which Gini teaches her. Thanks for her balanced teaching, my daughter has received many compliments from trombone and school jazz band teacher about her understanding of music theory and sight reading. This is the reasons why I highly recommend Ms. Gini to anyone without any hesitation.
Thank you Gini.
With all our love.View more recommendations
