About Kate
I have been crafting in one way or another for as long as I can remember, from Indiana to Iowa, Ohio, Michigan, and most recently Florida! I grew up in DIY and love the feeling of the creative process and holding something I made with my own hands. I equally love sharing that with others and seeing a friend or student light up after seeing they can do it too! Over the past 25 years, alongside a full time career in education, I have been hosting "crafternoons" and in-home craft classes, particularly using paper, clay and glass. I focus on keeping it fun and break down projects into steps to help you understand how something is made, why certain tools are used, tips to make your projects awesome, and encouragement to put your personality into your pieces.
I have 25 years of experience in education from program planning, teaching, advising student groups, creating meaningful experiences and managing through challenges. I have an educational background in psychology and school counseling and years of training and work experience in emotional intelligence and teamwork.

I ask a lot of questions to understand the level of experience as well as interests the student has and tailor lessons based on that information. I keep class sizes small so I can keep the individual attention and help each learner along the way. My primary goal is for the student to have fun and enjoy the learning process along the way, from the projects we are making, the pace we are going, their retention of the material and to believe in themselves and their ability to create.
