About Faiza
One on one tutoring is excellent at keeping any student on track and advancing further in their journey through math!
I am currently a university student and have taken college level mathematics courses such as Multivariable Calculus III. I understand that math can be daunting, but that is only so when it is approached incorrectly. I learned to find a joy in math when learning interesting new concepts, not memorizing! Leave that to strengthening ones vocabulary :)
More about me:
-I have tutored at Kumon, which is a tutoring company (primarily teaching 4 year olds - high school students)
-I was on math team in high school(woohoo)
If you are on the fence about hiring me, here are some things to consider. Research has shown how cross age peer mentoring enhances academic perfomance and allows the tutee to be more comfortable around someone who is percieved with less authority than a full-fledged adult (UCLA Psych). Also, the environment in which the student and I work in will be quiet as it is a study room, free from distractions (See uploaded picture taken at the Walpole [MA] Library), so the student will be able to, and encourged to, freely ask questions without the worry of other peers.
I love mathematics, so being able to spread knowledge feels like a great accomplishment. Being a tutor not ony helps the student, but often students are able to give the tutor a change in perspective with the topic at hand, which is always interesting and eye-opening for both the student and me.
I have work experience at Kumon, a tutoring company teaching elementary to high schoolers.
Have been in a POGIL (Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning) study in order to evaluate on how to successfully use higher level thinking

I will have a syllabus of the subject matter a student tends to do at their given grade level or age and see where there performance is. Then we can go on from there to establish the fundementals for the next topic they are going to learn. Remember every bit counts! Mathematics is cumulative!
As touched on before, I would rather hammer down concepts rather than have students follow algorithms; instead, they'll figure out how to approach and find a solution to the problems themselves!
Look for a teacher who likes the subject you want to learn. Their fondness of the subject will likely rub off on you and inspire you to learn, not only to succeed, but also for the love of learning in of itself!
Math is cumulative so everything should build off one another. Nothing should be entirely new to you when the tutor teaches!

Details
Prices (ranging from $9-$22) are negotiable and depends on:
(1) how long the lessons will be.
(2) how far you are traveling from.
--- Explanation: If you are farther than 13 miles the the price of the lesson will likely be lowered
(3) the amount of time needed in preparation for the lesson.
--- Explanation: If the student needs more time just practicing in person the cost would be less than if the student needed a large amount of material to cover during the session, which would need more preparation on my part.
