I have been tutoring on and off since I was a freshman in high school, so over 10 years now! I've worked with students ranging from kindergarteners to college students.
Tutoring sessions are at most half the equation. The other half involves work students need to put in on their own. Sometimes math concepts aren't immediately straightforward but doing enough practice problems will reinforce how to approach problems and eventually lead to that "Ah-Hah" moment.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I think students should consider the type of help they need prior to each study session. Do they need someone to work through problem sets with? Is there a concept they need reviewed/explained in greater detail?
