Typically the first meeting with a student is getting to know the student, and finding out how we can work together. We'll spend some time discussing past and current difficulties in math, as well as specifics of what they hope to gain during their time working with me.
After that, I develop a plan for addressing the students needs and the path to guide them to success. We begin the "real" work on the second meeting, and continue with weekly (or more frequent) meetings until the goal is met.
