About Chirag
My service stands out because of the personal connection and clear communication I develop with students. This clear communication becomes especially important for the emphasis I place on understanding while teaching. Instead of simply teaching a process or series of steps to memorize and trust, I would rather help a student understand intuitively why a process, formula, or skill. My typical process for working with a new student begins with assessing the goals for the new student. By identifying the student's goals and the student's current knowledge, I can identify how best to help the student achieve their goals. Generally, I will discuss the student's goals with the student and/or their parents to find what they want to get out of tutoring. To assess a student's current knowledge, I will ask the student to work through a few practice problems representative of what they are trying to learn or have been learning while explaining their thought process aloud(to demonstrate true understanding of a process instead of simply following a procedure). After figuring out what must be done to help the student, I will begin working with that student in order to achieve their goals.
I have mostly worked with high school students, tutoring for geometry, algebra 2, and precalculus.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
A student should first assess their own understanding of material and their goals for their understanding of the material. A student should then assess what steps they have already taken towards those goals and if they have been effective. With this information, the student should come to their teacher with a concrete and achievable goal equipped with information about how they have already gotten closer to their goal.
