About Keisha
Smart Minds Tutoring got started in Jamaica during the pandemic years . I am a Jamaican teacher who relocated to North Carolina via a teaching program. I am currently working for Durham Public Schools . Overall , I have been a teacher for 28 years but I have been teaching with Durham Public Schools for three years. During my extensive tenure I have molded minds and prepared students to be lifelong learners. I have also done rigorous exam preparations for students from 4th to 7th Grade. I am a trained and certified teacher who absolutely enjoy seeing my students eyes light up when they truly understand something for the first time . It’s like they’ve had an epiphany. I have worked with students with multiple learning styles from the academically challenged to the gifted . I have mastered the teaching of reading, writing and grammar but most of all I am more passionate about Math. Therefore, it should be no surprise that my specialty area is Math. I have worked with students who have a mental block for math and took them to a level of appreciation and love for it . My strategies are simple and provide students with step by step instructions .
