About Angela
I worked for one of the big named chains for a few years and sadly realized people were paying a ton for a service that was not the best to help their child.
I quit working for the chain and started my own tutoring business at home where I could charge a lot less (low overhead) and work with the students in groups of two instead of three. Even my one-on-one tutoring is less than the chains change for three students at a time!
I have been tutoring for 20 years now and have helped numerous students to succeed. I have tutored a Harvard graduate school student, a GED student, a four year old beginning reader, a 10th grade online summer credit student, third graders learning read (LD), and everything in between!
I enjoy tutoring math the most, anything from beginner math all the way to geometry and algebra.
I am a certified teacher with a degree in special education and a minor in elementary education. I was teacher of the year 2017 at Walnut Grove Christian school.
I was also teacher of the year at Sylvan Learning Center in 1994.

For first meeting I have the parents and student come in together, sit down and talk to me. We discuss strengths and weaknesses. If they are a reading conprehension client I have them read a simple text to me. If they are a math client, I have them take a math assessment to complete at home to help me have a better understanding of what level they are at.
All of this is free of charge.
All kinds! - I have worked with gifted and talented students as well as students with learning disabilities. In the classroom setting, I have taught learning disabled students as well as academically advanced students all the way down to severe and profound mentally challenged students.
Every child can learn! It’s just being able to reach them, to give them the confidence in themselves to help them achieve all that they are able to achieve.
Ask for a free consultation – if they are willing to give it you can tell they are truly interested in the students and not just the money.
Also ask for references and check them. It is truly important if you’re trusting them with an unknown adult.
This summer I am tutoring a lot of new students. Getting to see them grow in confidence and ability is so exciting to me. There are several I have that have been beaten down and felt very unsuccessful in school. Seeing the smile on their faces when they understand what they are doing, walking out of clas with their shoulders back, it makes me so proud of what I do.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
- Am I focusing and paying attention in class?
-Am I prepared for every class session?
- Am I doing the classwork and homework?
- Am I in the right frame of mind and attitude to approach my teacher?
If yes to all of these questions, then talk to your teacher. If not, take responsibility before you approach them with concerns about your grade.

Angie is an excellent teacher, she has helped our daughter a lot. Angie was able to identify our daughter’s weakness in both math & reading and help her. Our daughter’s confidence and knowledge have improved a lot in the 5 or 6 sessions she has had so far.
I highly recommend AMF Tutorial. My son has been attending AMF tutorial for over 4 years now and his progress has been amazing! We have seen a rise in test scores, school work and reading levels! Mrs Angie really cares about the success of her students. Highly recommend her.

My son tutored with Mrs. Ferreira for 8th and 9th grades, mainly for math but also other subjects as well. His Algebra grades were improved from C to B. He trusted her and developed a good teacher/student relationship and felt comfortable asking her questions for problems he didn't understand. She is equipped to work with children with special learning needs as well. My son has A.D.D. and she managed to keep him focused on task. He tutored both after school and during summer to prepared for the next school year. She is easy to work with and all the kids seem to love her. Highly recommend AMF to middle or high school kids and even elementary children.
