About Jean

Experience, Knowledge, Safety

I have been a lifelong equestrian, an insured MA licensed instructor since 1986. From the hunter/jumper world, my interests have expanded into natural horsemanship, classical dressage, and on to the foundation of it all, efficient biomechanics. A student's individual goals determine my lessons: I seek to facilitate his/her maximum connection with the horse regardless of discipline.

Teaching, both riding and academic, has been my lifetime passion. My mentors and idols growing up, those of all equestrian disciplines, have given me a solid and deep foundation in what works to make a rider be the best partner possible for her/his horse. I have a subtle eye for detail and understand fully the synthesis needed for seamless communication between two diametrically opposed species. Seeing the partnerships grow gives me joy.

Have always taught, but officially since 1986 with MA licensing.

60 years in equestrian world as student, competitor, horse owner, instructor. Retired educator.

MA licensed since 1986

Plans going forward

As a former educator, I seek to facilitate learning in a positive and safe environment while exposing students to developmentally appropriate concepts. My experience extends from beginner to advanced students.

All levels, beginner to advanced, child to adult. Committment, focus, kindness and an interest in being the best possible for horse.

Instructor must be knowledgeable, humane to horse and rider, and more interested in being a facilitator than a dictator. Firmess and kindness work together for best results. Flexibility, a good eye, and making the horse a priority round it all out.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
"These are my goals."

"This is my background."

"How can you help me?"
