About Joe
Joe Bellavia-Private Guitar Instruction
I have been teaching beginning to intermediate guitar students since 2005.
My goal is to teach the student the skills needed to play guitar and read music..and ultimately be a working musician in whatever capacity they desire, from recording, writing and performing live.

Sharing my many years of experience is a thrill, to see a student's face light up when I've helped coach them is the greatest gift. To actually make music with one of my students is a magical thing.
I have been playing guitar since the age of 9, I also played the saxophone through middle and high school. I've been playing music and performing professionally since the age of sixteen and I still perform professionally (over forty years).

I typically teach beginning students from the age of 9. I use two different coursework series; Mel Bay's Modern Guitar Method and Hal Leonard's Complete Guitar. After the student gains some knowledge and playing skills, I will sometimes deviate from the coursework to help a student learn more popular music from different genres that may be more interesting and exciting to the student.
Students learn to read music and some theory as they learn to play.
