About Jeremy
Jeremy Hutson has worked as a professional guitarist and instructor since 1995. He began giving guitar lessons in college, and ran Solanco Guitar Studios in Quarryville, PA from 1997-2008. He has served on the faculties of: The Lancaster Conservatory of Music, Philadelphia Biblical University, The Csehy Summer School of Music, The Pennington School, and Southeast Community College in Beatrice, NE. He and his wife Annette formed Hutson Music, Inc. in 2019, and opened their first business Live.Love.Music Academy out of a desire to promote music for the whole family, and elevate the importance of music instruction throughout the Livingston County, MI area. This business was forced to close a year later due to Covid-19. Hutson Music is in the process of reopening as an online-only lesson studio. Jeremy is a member of the Registry of Guitar Tutors through the London College of Music, and received the degree of Bachlor of Music in Applied Music from Covenant College, and holds a Master of Music in Guitar Performance from West Chester University. He is also a professional church music and worship director. Jeremy also toured and recorded three internationally acclaimed albums as a member of The Pedrick-Hutson Guitar Duo. Jeremy enjoys the ability to give back a gift that was given to him both as a musician and instructor, and helping others learned and enjoy the craft of music. It's a joy to connect with people, and help to simply the learning process, inspire students, and to create an enjoyable experience for everyone. I want my small business to be a place where anyone can enjoy and learn about music, and to fully appreciate why music education is so important and necessary.
Mr. Hutson began teaching in college; and while attending graduate school, opened a thriving music instruction and recording studio in Quarryville, Pennsylvania, while also founding the internationally acclaimed Pedrick-Hutson Guitar Duo. There was a clear need in the area at that time. When I first began learning guitar (after having taken 5 years of piano lesson) I didn't know of any affordable professional teachers in the area, short of traveling a long distance. It was my strong desire to give something back to the community.
Jeremy Hutson is a member of the Registry of Guitar Tutors. He earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Applied Music guitar from Covenant College, studying classical guitar under Dr. Mario Abril, and a Master of Music degree in Guitar Performance from West Chester University of Pennsylvania. More than 20 years of experience as a private, group, and classroom instructor, studio owner, professor, and touring and recording artist.

Virtual lessons offer many wonderful opportunities. Learning from the comfort of your own space is one awesome way to relieve the stress some people may feel. The large majority of my students will follow one or more the Registry of Guitar Tutors methods. This is a by-grade (progressive levels) series which is designed so that students learn how to play the guitar quickly in a way that prepares them to learn whatever they desire, based on each student's pace and interests. Repertoire will naturally be included in lessons, but my goal is to assist every student in becoming self-confident and to prepare each student to be able to enjoy learning anything they desire on their own. I have always strived to equip students to achieve their own desired level of success, and even inspire you to reach heights you may never have expected. Regardless, learning music should always be a positive experience, even when some things might seem difficult or even frustrating at first. There is a get-to-know-you period with each student, as I tailor private lessons to the individual. I work quickly to set goals and develop a path that will help each student achieve their goals quickly and develop a strong sense of accomplishment and ownership.
All ages, all skill levels, and virtually all styles.
I currently only accept students 18+.
Although I have played and taught nearly all styles of guitar over the years, I no longer teach shred style of fast lead guitar. That's just not my speciality. I also don't teach rhythmic percussive style guitar. And, although I enjoy jazz guitar a lot and do play some, that is also not my area of expertise.
Find someone like myself who is truly dedicated to teaching, someone who has a vested interested in what they do. There is a balance that every good instructor must achieve between making lessons entertaining, educational, professional, and personal. I have always strived to achieve that balance with every one of my students.
My student recitals were always the highlight of the year. This is obviously a new challenge with virtual lessons, but it's definitely possible.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
#1) Will I practice regularly? #2) Will I dedicate time to listen to music, and to work on things outside of my lessons and regular practice, as time allows, to make it more fun and more personal? #3) Will I strive to keep a balance of other activities (school, work, sports, etc.) so that music is not the last thing on my list? #4) What do I hope to get out of my lessons? #5) What are my expecations of myself? #6) What expectations do I have for my instructor?

Jeremy Hutson has not only been a fantastic guitar teacher for my daughter, but he has proven to be a great mentor as well. My daughter's technical skills have developed substantially under Jeremy's direction, but I also appreciate how he has incorporated valuable music theory knowledge into her lessons, in a way that is immediately applicable, memorable, and meaningful. My daughter has been encouraged to explore the genres of music that are of high interest to her, and in this context, Jeremy has continued to expand her knowledge of music theory, applying it to music that she loves. Jeremy is patient and gentle as a guitar teacher for children. He obviously knows his craft well and my son enjoys lesson time and is learning at his own pace, which Jeremy has a great sense of.

I look forward to guitar lessons. I can actually learn to play the genres of music that I want to learn, and my guitar teacher, Jeremy, really cares about that. If you let him know what you want to learn in the next lesson, he will work so hard looking at that, and show you what you need, and sometimes, there are good conversations to be had about the artists themselves, and the particular style. Overall, guitar lessons are super engaging, and I actually want to practice my guitar.

Jeremy is an excellent guitar instructor! Very patient with my daughter who had zero experience playing when we started. He makes lessons fun by teaching current songs that interest the student but are easy enough to practice. Highly recommend for guitar.

Regular tuition is $30 for one 1/2 hour lesson. Students who commit to regular monthly lessons are offered a significant discount, and a make-up lesson option, with built-in weeks off during busy times of year. Students who commit to one full year of lessons at a time are offered an additional discount, with a variety of payment options. Please inquire for more details.
