I don't think most people know that Shaun Dougherty earned a degree in Arranging Theory & Composition from the Berklee College of Music in Boston and that combined with preforming live throughout the US has made him an incredible teacher. Shaun is very patient with me. I am an older student and don't pick things up so quickly anymore but he never shows his frustration. He's also very well trained. He is able to foray into my odd musical tastes of Flamenco and old French Torch songs with ease. Shaun is relaxed, flexible and professional. I went from zero to being able to play Bach (kind of sort af) in just over a year.

Shaun is an extremely gifted teacher. He's got the musical chops, background, and education, but what really sets him apart is his easy-going and patient nature. He approaches the student in such a way that trust is quickly established. Shaun's experience in a wide variety of musical styles helped me quickly play songs I knew and liked. And I progressed further and faster than I ever imagined. His goal seems to be to make it fun, because if playing music isn't fun, why bother? As in all music lessons, practice on the part of the student is essential. But, with Shaun, if you practice regularly, you'll get out of it what you want.

We started off in-person, but had to switch to Zoom lessons once the pandemic it. The transition was easy and my son has kept up with it. Shaun is patient and flexible, not only with schedule but with music. He's adjusted music choices for my son to find pieces that he could get interested in.
