About Bill
Lessons at Pebble Creek Par 3 Golf & Learning Course are taught by Bill Brinnier M.A. He is a United States Golf Teaching Federation (USGTF) certified Golf Teaching Professional, author, and sports psychologist. Bill uses a comprehensive approach to golf development, play and performance and his teaching integrate new breakthroughs in science with the time-honored traditions and teaching philosophies of the past. He is a highly personable character, an enthusiastic and encouraging individual. His animated style and humor make him very likable and provide for a nonthreatening learning experience in an informal teaching environment. His masters in counseling psychology and formidable knowledge of the field provide clarity to his observations and analysis as well as depth to his insights. It is, however, imparting a love of the game to his students that Bill excels most. This love for the game is contagious, and in an afternoon much can be learned vicariously sharing in his imagination as to what the game means to him and the possibilities of what it can mean for his student's development, both in and outside of the game. Pebble Creek Par 3 Golf and Learning course is a great setting to get this development on track....for a lifetime of enjoyment playing golf!
I've loved playing golf for over 50 years, and it's a great feeling to impart golf's essentials to students of all ages and to share my passion for the sport to those who might seek my instruction, guidance, or counsel in such matters of the heart. I try to encourage. motivate, educate, and reinforce an individual's interest in golf. I strive to be an exceptional mentor, advocate, and ambassador of the game. Having spent a good deal of my adult life teaching collegiate psychology. I now apply this knowledge of the mind, body, and behavior to the task of actualizing potential in golfing ability. One student (client) at a time.
I have played golf for nearly fifty years and taken lessons from many pro's in the process. I began teaching non-credit courses on the psychology of golf in 2003. After teaching classroom psychology for two decades I completed a sports psychology book Phenomenal Golf: The INNER Art & Science of "Being There". After twnty eighy years, I retired from teaching psychology in 2015, to devote my efforts towards teaching golf full time.
I earned a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology in 1985 and spent the majority of my adult life (1987-2015) teaching collegiate psychology in NY and NC.
In 2003 I began teaching The Psychology of Golf classes through continuing education classes. in 2012 I published a Sports Psychology text entitled Phenomenal Golf: The INNER Art & Science of "Being There."
In 2013 I earned affiliate status with The United States Golf Teaching Federation (USGTF) In May of 2015 I advanced to associate status, and in October of 2015 I passed my performance ability testand became a full member of the USTGF.

This depends on the nature of the students needs. If a beginner I describe the basic pillars of golf development: grip, stance & posture, alignment, and ball position. I'll also cover the different strokes in golf; putting, chipping, pitching, and full swing. If a student/client has a specific interest then I will focus my attention on modifying said area. If a person is not sure what really needs addressing, I will conduct a playing lesson, accompanying them during a round of golf and summarizing my observations and offer suggestions as to improvement.

The question of why they want to play golf..... what purpose is it serving? How much time and energy are they willing to submit to......

Perfect! Bill's first lesson was very helpful. Looking forward to the next one and many more. Great understand of the game!
Perfect! Great teacher, excels at bridging the gap between other sports and golf as well as the psychology of the sport. Has really helped my game. Would recommend highly.
Perfect! Bill was great! His understanding of golf his philosophy on golf; Bill overall outlook on teaching and learning golf is great! He’s an excellent and patient teacher. Which in return gives you the opportunity to relax and learn golf at Bill’s level and viewpoint.
Excellent! Bill was very professional and does a great job of explaining what we’re trying to do and how to achieve the desired outcome.
Perfect! I've had 2 sessions with Bill and have benefited greatly from them both. Bill keeps it simple enough so that you're making progress in the 1st few minutes. I asked about my stance, grip and backswing and Bill spent the session on those, making sure I had a good understanding for practicing on my own in the following days. Plus, you'll have a good time with Bill, which is one of the things you want out of golf. So, give him a call, you'll be glad you did.

I loved my golf lessons will Bill Brinnier. He has clearly explained how to improve my golf technique, my golf swing and overcoming my mental fear of the game. I had two, 4 session lessons, and feel much more confident about playing a game of golf.
I have periodically through the years taken group lessons, but the individual lessons were far better and highly recommended. The individual instructions, pinpointed my golf swing problems. Learning the difference in techniques such as the chip, pitch and putt skills has helped with the understanding of the how and why the golf club connects with the ball. Golf is not a simple game. After each session, Bill gives copies of notes that one can review at home.
Bill is a gifted teacher. His explanations are easily understood and not intimidating. Anyone taking his lessons will be a much improved golfer.
Also, I just want to add that Pebble Creek is a great golf course to learn. It is a place to enjoy golf.
So my family is seriously competitive about putt-putt and I thought it would be fun to take golf lessons as a family over spring break. My boys, 18 and 14, were not thrilled when I told them we were signed up. BUT, after meeting Bill and taking lessons over two days, we all had a GREAT time! Bill shared mechanics as well as ways to handle the mental game that is golf. I have a new found respect for the game and know that Bill has given us all a good basis to continue to learn and hone our skills. He is funny, patient and clearly loves the game. I highly recommend Bill as an instructor for a game my whole family can now enjoy - golf!
Every one of us had a teacher or coach in the past that left a positive impression on your education, sport or life. After a couple of lessons with Bill, I count him in that group for me. His passion for the teaching of golf and the game of golf is apparent in every lesson. His objective is to ensure you improve all aspects of your game so that you can truly enjoy the art of golf. It works for me. See you in the clubhouse.
It has been a wonderful experience, taking golf lessons from Bill Brinnier. I started the golf lessons, basically knowing very little about golf. Bill's lessons for me started with the basics, then build each week, reinforcing technique, skill and good habits. He is very patient and calm and will spend whatever time you need to improve your game. It makes the time spent really fun and rewarding, particularly when you can see your own growth from week to week. He's very good. Also, the folks at Pebble Creek are great!
