About Dustin
After 7 years as an admissions counselor I can confidently say that I have worked with nearly every type of program, every type of student demographic, every financing option, and every unusual hurdle to a student's eligibilty.
After getting to know you for about 30 to 60 minutes I will be able to offer you:
-At least one reccomendation for a program of study
-An unofficial review of possible transferable credits
-A qualitative analysis of the return on your investment you can expect from a particular major and a snapshot of the careers day to day activities and potential impact on on your personal life.
-A handful of schools offering the program of study you select tailored to your desired attributes in a University
-A proactive list of circumstances that may cause difficulty with your application, acceptance, enrollment, financing, or transferability, and an action plan to overcome them.
My mother and I attended college at the same time, and we were the first in the family, I am now the only member to hold a graduate level degree (MBA.)
We were so clueless! Pushing forward against adversity built a lot of character I suppose but university level coursework is difficult enough already without having to learn about your resources and and their administration. I was one of the lucky ones because I graduated but I can't tell you how many people I meet who have already resigned that after years of hard work and expenese they will not be able to complete a degree they had started. In about 90% of these cases, I am actually to turn things around for them and find a place to finish their goals, but my heart goes out to them for the process having been so difficult and the information being so difficult to access.

I have trained new admissions counselors at my position with the University, but have not been certified as a K-12 teacher in any state, nor have I taught at the Univerity level (though I am qualified to apply.)
In addition to my seven year career as a college admissions counselor, I have attended the following programs as a student between 2000- 2010 in reverse chronological order:
Ashford University - Master's of Arts in Health Care Administration (online)
San Diego State Univertsity - MBA program *graduate*
San Jose State University - Bachelor of Science Public Relations *graduate*
Saddleback Community College - 2 year transfer plan completed
As well as several other JC level campus and online classes throughout California State.
