About Natalie
Hello! I am a graduate of UC Davis with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a minor in History. I have grown to value the education workforce deeply and would love to continue my involvement in children's education as I work towards my School Counseling Master’s program online.
I greatly appreciate the opportunity to witness the positive impact of tutoring amongst teens and young children by having that one person who will work as hard as they can to help you understand the material. As a Paraeducator and Substitute Teacher, I have grown to truly admire and respect the educational workforce.
My time with Fern Bacon and the Elk Grove School District gave me a new perspective on behavioral management and adaptation to specific academic disabilities. Particularly, I assist the teacher with creating and executing the lesson for the day, conducting small group or one-on-one sessions to ensure each student becomes involved in class activities and collecting data for IEP’s. With my more moderate students, I aid in the implementation of behavioral management plans created by the caseworker. As a substitute teacher, I experience a diversity of student needs on a daily basis. I adapt to those exceptionalities and hope to bond with each classroom I work in, no matter how small or large. Being an outsider coming into a classroom for the first time, I’ve learned techniques to quickly build a rapport with kids and understand what they may be struggling with. No matter the lesson plan, my job is to help.
During each of my work experiences, I have learned the operations of professional environments and have gained strong written and interpersonal communication skills. I directly witnessed the positive workings of public policy and the power of simple conversation with members of the community. I have run weekly agenda reports, trained new employees and helped create marketing campaigns. Performing these tasks allowed me to gain crucial professional writing skills as well as strong time management abilities.
In addition, my experience in Launchpad Project Management and HumanitiesDC taught me successful data analysis tools and effective methods to present valuable information. Within Launchpad Project Management, our supervisors reminded us of the key qualities of an entrepreneur. These qualities, such as dependability, confidentiality and respectfulness follow me to this day. In addition to scheduling and taking notes during meetings, I also synthesized a wide variety of data to interpret the best opportunities for fundraising and sustainability. This data included all primary resources such as news reports, policy changes and statistical updates. At HumanitiesDC, I was given the task to create the company’s 2016 annual report. This included reaching out to other departments to gather information about the organization's successes and design the report into a presentable booklet to be handed to potential donors.
A career in education is one of the noblest ambitions. I enjoy working with children and am capable of developing a great relationship with both parents and students. My diligent and trustworthy work ethic comes from being largely in such fast-paced environments.
I hope to make the best impact possible during my time with your kids as so many previous teachers have done for me!
I began my teaching career in 2019 with a passion for education and working to change the system from the inside.
