About Nitya

I started tutoring in high school to fulfill my requirements for my societies and clubs, but I slowly fell in love with tutoring. It is so satisfying to be able to teach someone a difficult concept and see it click for them. My teaching style is a combination of in-depth step-by-step explanations and creative learning experiences. I always adjust my teaching methods based on my student to make sure that the student is learning in an efficient manner.

I have taught an estimated 40+ students and have always gotten great results. In high school, I was a tutor in Wootton Tutoring Club, English Honor Society, Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica, Mu Alpha Theta, and National Honor Society. I tutored as part of these clubs around 5 times a month for each club, so overall, I would tutor twice a week. I also used to tutor students outside of school for payment.

Currently, I teach students English-based subjects, specializing in English test preparation. I have tutored 4 students for the SAT Reading/Writing section and they all received scores of 700+ on their Reading/Writing sections, as well as 18+ on the SAT essays.

I have also tutored 3 students in AP English Language and Composition and AP Psychology. They got 4s and 5s on their AP exams, as well as As in their classes.

As for my qualifications, I have published two short stories, one in a national online teen magazine and one in a cultural online newspaper. I was Managing Editor of my high school newspaper. Additionally, I wrote for the newspaper for 3 years. I was awarded National AP Scholar and PSAT/NMSQT Commended Scholar by the end of my junior year of high school. I scored a 5 on the AP English Language and Composition exam and a 4 on the AP Psychology exam. Finally, I got a 1540 on my SAT with a 760 in the Reading/Writing section and a 20/24 on the essay.

I love seeing that aha moment in students. It is so incredible when a student finally understands a concept they were struggling with, all because you explained it to them in a fresh, new way. I enjoy the creativity aspect of my work as well. I always mix up my teaching style to fit my student, so I have been able to come up with creative ways to make the content fun and get my student interested in the class. All of these factors make me feel like tutoring isn't even a job.
