About Michelle

Hello my name is Teacher Michelle. I have a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and I am also TESOL certified.

I've worked as a classroom tutor for five years. During that time I worked with children between the ages of ten and thirteen. I've also worked as an afterschool tutor to fostercare children for two years. During that time I worked with children between the ages of four and nine. Now, I teach English online. I've been teaching English online for two years. I teach children between the ages of six and thirteen.

Each of my experiences has allowed me to help children improve their grammar, reading, phonics, listening, and comprehension skills; as well as, gain confidence when speaking and reading English.

I've worked with children in many different settings, but the most rewarding of my experiences is having the opportunity to help a child develop confidence when reading and speaking English independently and overcome their learning difficulties.

In my classroom, I provide patience, pronunciation correction, and a friendly teaching environment, where my student and I can enjoy speaking and reading English together.

I also encourage my students to use their creative minds to create fun stories with pictures. It is very rewarding to watch as my students create their own fun stories.

I starting tutoring in 2006 as a volunteer at a local Middle School and I eventually transitioned to an employee of the school. I continued in that role for five years.

I have worked with children in many different settings. I was a classroom tutor at a middle school or five years. I was also an afterschool tutor for two years; where i worked with foster children. And, I currently teach Engish online.

About the lesson

When I work with a new student I like to do a "Get to Know You" with my student. A "Get to Know You" tyically takes 15-20 minutes. During this time I will introduce myself to my student and allow my student to introduce him/herself to me. Then, I will allow my student to discuss any concerns. Afterward, I will perform a brief assessment that will allow me to determine my student's level of comprehension. Lastly, I will end my "Get to Know You" with a fun story.

I've worked with students from ages four to thirteen. Some of my students were not able to read or write prior to the start of class. I've also worked with students who had difficulties paying attention for long periods of time.

Searching for the "right" teacher can be challenging. But, if you would like to improve your grammar, read fluently and confidently and improve your comprehension skills; my teaching style may be "right" for you.

I had a student who would rely on her father to assist her with reading during the entire lesson. So, one day I decided to introduce her to phonics and show her how she could sound and seperate the letters of words to make pronuncing them easier. We worked with phonics for five weeks and she's now reading fluently and independently. I am very proud of her progress.
