About Kirsten
I am a 17 year teaching veteran. I have a BA in English, MA English, and ABD EdD in Curriculum and Instruction. I currently teach AP Language, English 1101 and 1102 for a local technical college, American Literature, and Creative Writing. I have also taught 9th grade Literature, World Literature, and British Literature.
I love helping students to find their individual voices in writing while also mastering the technical skills needed to clearly articulate a written argument.
I have been a STARR teacher and the George Washington Carver Teacher of the Year.

First I do a preassessment to find areas of strength as well as weakness. I also like to find out student interests to create engaging and relevant activities. I also find out the student’s goals so that we are clearly working toward.
i have worked with students grades 7-12 and college students as well. I have worked with students of all learning abilities.
