About Ash

Hello! I've spent the past 3.5 years in the United States Marine Corps while also going to college. I'm almost a year away from graduating with my double amjor in English and Supply Chain Management. I've been published in multiple literary magazines, and have been the editor-in-chief as well. I've also been tutoring for a little over three years now from high school English to senior level college courses. Writing is one of my biggest passions, and I hope to make it one of yours!

I got started tutoring when I was in high school. I tutored my classmates and siblings in English. As I got older, I started to tutor more and more for the better part of 5 years.

Most of my experience comes from mentoring from my teachers and my father--who is a published author. However, one of my majors is in English.

About the lesson

I like to get to know the student in order to tailor their lessons to them. Learning is more fun when lessons are relatable! We'll discuss strengths and weaknesses, upcoming projects, and everything in between in order to get on the right track.

I haved worked with all kinds of students! From people working full time jobs to those whose worst subject is English. I believe in taking the time to help everyone and doing everything in my power to get them to where they need to be--wherever that is for them.

If I were the student, I would request to see example essays or fiction pieces in order to see their writing style. One thing that is different in writers is their style, so finding someone that matches a style you want to emulate or appreciate is key to success.

I've been seperated from my family for almost 3 years now due to the military taking me all over the globe. Recently, I was on FaceTime with my youngest sister while having some downtime at work. She proudly showed me her first loose tooth, wiggling it back and forth. I jokingly told her to pull on it (and much to my surprise) she did it! And even more surprising? The tooth came out! My sister lost her first tooth on FaceTime with me. It was the most special moment we shared together from such a far distance, and I'm grateful for that moment of connection.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
They need to really take a look at what their course is asking of them and what areas in that realm they struggle with. Each course is different, so knowing what the teachers require is important when talking about their needs.
