About Justine
Hi! I'm Justine Forelli of Teacher Justine. I help parents to improve their child’s reading skills so that they:
get better grades,
don’t fall behind,
discover the joys of reading,
learn strategies not taught in school,
get the one-to-one attention they need,
and have meaningful and productive lives.
I am a certified k-12 teacher with a strong understanding of language structures. I have taught in schools for over 10 years including in an Italian immersion school. I am now offering my one-to-one tutoring services online.

I have a great service where I first assess your child and then I design lesson plans to teach to their gaps and raise their reading level a full year in only 8-12 weeks.
I love working one-to-one with students and seeing their amazing progress.
I got started in teaching after having my first child. I had learned about Waldorf education and this philosophy resonated with me. I wanted this kind of education for my child and I felt a call to become a teacher and I enrolled in teacher training.
When my second child did not learn to read with this whole language method, I learned that 30% of children need a direct, explicit phonics-based approach to teaching reading. I then got my CA teaching credential and trained in Reading Intervention.
I am a certified k-12 multiple subjects teacher. I also have a single subject teaching credential in Italian. I have completed a Reading Intervention course for online tutors.

The parent first fills out a student registration form on my website to request a Free Assessment and Report.
Then we schedule a Zoom call. I first do the assessment and then at the end talk to the parent.
I follow up with a detailed report and plan within 24 hours.
Then I create lessons based on the student's needs and we schedule a one-hour lesson once a week.
I re-assess every 12 weeks and make a new plan.
I have worked mostly worked with kindergarten through fifth grade as a teacher in schools. I have worked with struggling readers and advanced readers.
Ask them what are the components of their reading program. It should be evidence-based and include these components:
Phonemic awareness
Phonics
Fluency
Vocabulary
comprehension
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Parents should pay close attention to their child's reading and they should ask for intervention if they are worried.
For the young child, they should pay close attention to whether the child has mastered the sound-letter link.
For older children, they should listen to their fluency and pay attention to comprehension.
